Kidapawan Farmers Bailed Out After Celebrities, Led by Aiza Seguerra and Liza Dino, Raised Funds!

A+ A-

The issue about the Kidapawan farmers rally has earned sympathy from several sectors. Some say that farmers should've raised their concerns in a peaceful way and the authorities could've given them rice instead of bullets. This catastrophe also allowed certain celebrities to extend their help. The couple Aiza Seguerra and Liza Dino initiated a fund raising project aiming to provide money for the farmers' bail.

Based on reports, 79 individuals were jailed and many of them are farmers, who were just on the rally to ask rice, because their families have nothing to eat anymore. This is a raging effect of El Nino in Mindanao. However, a brawl took place after the police tried to disperse the protesters. Judge Rebecca De Leon of Kidapawan Municipal Trial Court ordered to reduce the bail amount from 12,000 to 6,000 on Wednesday, as an answer to the farmers' motion.

Seguerra and Dino raised a total of 546,000 pesos, enough for the temporary liberty of the jailed persons. Liza posted this good news on her Facebook account on Wednesday. Her post reads:

Among those famous personalities who took the initiative to help are Robin Padilla, Angel Locsin, sisters Anne and Jasmine Curtis and Daniel Padilla; some of them helped in kind.

It is truly innate for Filipinos to join hands and create a bayanihan culture in times of need. This character that these celebrities have shown is admirable. However, above all these, we should keep an eye on the developments of this case. May justice be served to parties who deserve. :)
