Recently, the Davao City Mayor became the number one topic of the country after his video of cursing Cotabato Governor Lala Mendoza gone viral on the internet. He defends himself from the accusations that he used the issue to gain more attention and sympathy from the people.
Duterte pledged to aid farmers 15,000 sacks of rice after the April 1 incident where thousands of North Cotabato farmers who were violently dispersed in Kidapawan City, leaving three people dead and dozens wounded, including police officers.
It was reported that Mendoza has implied that the efforts of Duterte's followers were just a "publicity stunt." She had blocked the said donation, even as the farmers clamored for rice to sustain their households.
Meanwhile, rice donations from celebrities and civic groups have reached Kidapawan City.
The Davao City Council has likewise decided to give a PHP31. 5-million rice aid to the farmers.
