One of the radio stations, Bombo Radyo reports that an abandoned yacht was found 62 miles off the coast of Barobo in Surigao Del Sur in the Philippines. At around 4:30am on February 25, 2016, a fisherman noticed a white yacht drifting in the waters. Upon seeing the broken sail, Christopher Rivas and one of his companions decided to investigate the yacht. When they entered the vessel, they discovered the mummified body of a man slumped over a desk in the radio room.
The man is believed to be the captain and the owner of the said yacht. Documents and photos recovered on the yacht recognized the dead man as 59-year-old German adventurer Manfred Fritz Bajorat, who was last seen in 2009 by friends in Mallorca, Spain.
The mystery of the mummified body of a German adventurer has taken a new twist after a haunting note and photos were revealed. Manfred Fritz Bajorat, wrote a thirty-two word memorial to his beloved wife Claudia, who died from cancer aged 53 on May 2, 2010. 'Thirty years we’ve been together on the same path. Then the power of the demons was stronger than the will to live. You're gone. May your soul find its peace. Your Manfred,' it stated.
There was no evidence of foul play and it is highly possible that he had died of natural cause. Because of high temperatures and salty air, his body was preserved throughout the years. The German embassy in Manila is currently looking for the adventurer’s remaining family, which may include a daughter working as the captain of a freight vessel.
