A "lake" in the Gulf of Mexico was discovered and scientists who discovered it warned that those entering the pool might never come back alive.

Erik Cordes, a scientist who specializes in biology at Temple University in Philadelphia, has made strides in research about the pools which was published in the journal Oceanography.
“It was one of the most amazing things in the deep sea. You go down into the bottom of the ocean and you are looking at a lake or a river flowing. It feels like you are not on this world", Cordes told Discovery News.
"It feels like you are not in this world."
The water in the discovered lake is dangerous for living beings. It is about five times saltier than the Gulf of Mexico and it contains highly toxic concentrations of methane and hydrogen sulfide, thus it cannot mix with the surrounding sea.
Only bacterial life like tube worms and shrimp can survive those circumstances.
For scientists like Cordes , it is a playground for their research as they explore how certain organisms can survive in this extreme "lake within the sea".
"There's a lot of people looking at these extreme habitats on Earth as models for what we might discover when we go to other planets" Cordes said.
