The Uber driver under the user handle “westport76” shared his story on Reddit. On the site’s threat dedicated to Uber drivers discussing the “deepest secrets”, they overheard in trips he narrated his heart breaking moment with a passenger who was dying of brain cancer.
“She got into my car, apologized for being so drunk and politely asked if we could just drive around a little while, with the windows down.”
The lady passenger then asked him if death ever crossed his mind, to which he replied: “I guess so.”
The driver continued:
“That’s when she told me that she had cancer. It was in her brain and it was too far gone to consider chemo.”
The confession made the driver’s heart tremble, but what made his emotions dropped was when the passenger revealed why she had been out drinking at a bar, “Tonight she was celebrating with her work friends who threw her a going-away party; she told them she was taking a position abroad. I just didn’t tell them that abroad was heaven.”
