One fact about China is that the country’s divorce rate suddenly got higher after Song Joong Ki’s series, “Descendants of the Sun” was aired. Reports say that women began leaving their spouses because their expectations on men have increased. They choose men with the similar features to a Korean.
Korean Pop Culture has taken over the world with their subtle but sweet dramas (K-Dramas) same as their chart breaking music. Many outside of Asia are drawn to the Korean charm. However, there are instances that this love can turn into an addiction.
They say that love is blind. What if your love for these Korean dramas leads to your loss of sight? It seems impossible until someone experiences it. A girl almost became sightless after binge watching her favorite K-Dramas.
An unidentified 20-year-old Chinese woman from Nanjing watched her favorite Korean series, “Descendants of the Sun” and “Cheese in the Trap.” While watching, she had all the lights in her room turned off with her tablet as the only source of illumination.
The woman was staring at the screen for hours until she felt something wrong. She experienced a serious headache so she turned off her device and headed to bed. Unfortunately, when she woke up from her slumber, everything was worse. She felt a shooting pain in her eyes.
She was immediately brought to Nanjing Hospital where it was found out that she was suffering from glaucoma. The American Academy of Ophthalmology says that it is a condition where the eye’s optic nerve is damaged.
It occurs when fluid builds up in an area of your orb, conflicting with the nerve. If not treated, glaucoma can cause permanent loss of sight.
